On the heels of the formal announcement of the name change for the Medical Transcription Industry Association--now known as the Clinical Documentation Industry Association--comes word of the resignation of Dr. Peter Preziosi as CEO of both CDIA and AHDI. Here is the full text of the announcement:
Dear AHDI and CDIA Members,
Barb Marques, CMT, AHDI-F, 2010-2011 AHDI President, and Noel Bambrough, 2011 CDIA Chairman, announce the resignation of Dr. Peter Preziosi, AHDI and CDIA Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Preziosi will depart the associations on March 31, 2011. A Steering Committee of the association Boards has been formed to seek Dr. Preziosi’s replacement. According to President Barb Marques, "AHDI will miss Peter sorely, but I am so proud of all we have accomplished together, as a Board of Directors, through the HOD, on our various committees, with our alliances, and certainly with and on behalf of members. He has taught us what vision looks like, and what being brave can accomplish. As CEO, he has been mentor, friend, and advisor in a time of great challenges for our organization and our profession. His time with AHDI will leave a legacy of forward momentum and not settling for status quo. I am confident that he will take with him an understanding of our value in healthcare and continue to help others understand. I believe I can also speak for the AHDI Board of Directors in saying we will long remember the relationship we had, plan to stay in touch with him, and wish him all the best."
Chairman Noel Bambrough states, "CDIA is sorry to see Peter leave, but we wish him well as he moves on to other opportunities. His leadership and tireless efforts on behalf of our organizations have been critical to redefining our goals and reshaping our future as we adapt to a rapidly changing Healthcare environment. As he moves out into the health information technology arena, I am confident he will help to bring an understanding of our industry's critical role and value to others within the sector. I look forward to staying connected to Peter, and I know I speak for the CDIA board of directors when I say that we greatly value the relationship we have built with him over the years."
For those interested in submitting candidates for the position of CEO, a position description and instructions for submission to the Steering Committee is located on the AHDI and CDIA websites.

On a personal note, I'm very sorry to hear that AHDI and CDIA are losing such an enthusiastic and untiring advocate for our industry. I consider Peter both a friend and a valued professional colleague, and I wish him all the best.
With the governance structure changes currently being voted on by AHDI members, the change in name and focus for MTIA/CDIA, and now this, it's already turning out to be a very interesting year for our profession!
