"Have You Read Your Medical Record?" Revisited

AHDI Director-at-large Linda Giles has written a great article in ADVANCE for Health Information Professionals online magazine revisiting AHDI's 2005 "Have You Read Your Medical Record?" public awareness campaign. As Linda points out, that question and that message is even more relevant today than it was back then. With the advent of healthcare reform, the rise of electronic health records, and a push to grant patients access to their own medical records, the need for accuracy in healthcare documentation is only going to increase in the coming years. Linda makes a great comparison between errors in financial records and inaccuracies in one's medical documentation; both can be devastating but the latter could be deadly.

I hope you'll take a few moments to read Linda's article and then post your thoughts here on the Lounge.
